| a glass of teh tarik |
At first glance, the caramel colored drink with bubbly foam may look unusual. This is the teh tarik, an iconic drink in Malaysia. It is loved by many for its slightly sweet, bitter creamy taste made with tea, sweetened condensed milk. The tea mixture is poured in a rapid succession between two glasses to create the smooth, fluffy foam on top.
The teh tarik can usually be found in coffee shops and mamak stalls; morning, noon and night. Some drink teh tarik eaten with nasi lemak or roti canai in the morning, while others prefer it over goreng pisang during tea break in the afternoon.
The next time you're in town, drop by a kopitiam or mamak stall for a glass of refreshing teh tarik!
