Sarawak laksa

An iconic dish, Sarawak laksa is a must-try when visiting Sarawak. Made with vermicelli rice noodles, laksa is also commonly eaten throughout Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand. Its rich shrimp-broth may include shredded chicken, prawns, eggs with spicy chilli to suit the tastebuds.
The Sarawak laksa broth is slightly different from the common curry laksa dish found in Malaysia. Its aromatic broth is usually made with shrimp paste (sambal belacan), lemongrass, tamarind, coconut milk and chilli. It is topped with shredded chicken, bean sprouts, omelette strips and coriander leaves. It is usually served with sambal paste and lime juice.
