| Supercars will race KL's street circuit this August |
Supercar fans, get your cheers ready as KL’s first motorsport street circuit event is here!
The bustling streets of Kuala Lumpur is set to welcome the screeching of supercars this month. Mark your dates for 7,8 and 9 August as Kuala Lumpur (KL)’s first ever grand prix, KL City Grand Prix street circuit, will see supercars zoom along the streets of KL.
The street circuit event will feature a number of races including a Lamborghini Super Trofeo, Formula Masters and Scirocco celebrity Challenge. In addition, there will be a host of other activities, including a cultural and food festival, a live concert featuring international and local artistes, auto trade show and a vintage car event.
This is the first time, too, that a demonstration of the five best V8 supercar series teams would be organised at the event.
Former V8 supercars champion, Craig Lowndes, will have the honour of being the first race driver to kick-off the street circuit showcase. He is expected to be joined by Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 winners Chaz Mostert, Will Davison, Scott McLaughlin and Todd Kelly.
The KL GT City Cup race is a ‘Grade 3’ circuit, with a challenging 3.2km circuit over 25 laps. The cars will speed along 16 turns in downtown KL, with flag-off starting at the iconic Petronas Twin Towers, along Jalan Ampang, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Raja Chulan, Jalan Perak and Jalan P Ramlee.
Spectators wanting to watch the race, are advised to use public transport to get to the venue. This is to also to avoid traffic jams, as several of the roads in the city centre would be closed throughout the event.
Grandstand tickets are available for fans who wish to view the street circuit race in comfort. Ticket prices for the P. Ramlee Pit Grandstand is RM450, Ampang Grandstand, Sultan Ismail Grandstand and Perak Grandstand for RM350.
