Rainforest World Music Festival 2015

This year’s Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF), held from 7 to 9 August 2015 at the Sarawak Cultural Village (SCV) in Kuching, Sarawak (East Malaysia) will feature new and inspiring acts from around the world.

There will be 17 international lineups and seven Malaysian bands for the 18th RWMF this year.

The performers are 1drum.org and Culture Shot from Malaysia, Alaverdi from Georgia, Bargou 08 of Tunisia, Driss El Maloumi of Morocco and Enkh Jargal Dandarvaanchig from Mongolia. 

Other performers also include Harubee of Maldives, Kapela Maliszów from Poland and Kobagi Kecak from Indonesia.  Also performing are Kobo Town from Trinidad/Tobago, Le Blanc Bros Cajun Band from Australia and Lindigo of Reunion Island.

Shooglenifty of Scotland, Son de Madera of Mexico, Sona Jobarteh of Gambia/United Kingdom and Ukandanz of France/Ethiopia will be performing this year.

Sarawak Cultural Village's performers, Kenwy yang-qin ensemble, Lan E Tuyang, Sayu Ateng...Echoes of Borneo, will also be showcasing their musical talent at the RWMF. 

The RWMF will be set amidst lush rainforest greenery at the foothills of Mount Santubong. It is a stone’s throw away from the beach resorts of the Santubong peninsula. The SCV provides the ideal venue for this festival that celebrates nature, traditional music and the indigenous cultures of the world.

instruments performed by the groups at this year’s RWMF. The workshops are always fun and interactive and offer a unique window into the soulful journey of music from the various countries’.

For those interested in the tickets for the RWMF should note that there are two types of pass (festival tickets):

One-day pass – adult RM110 and child (aged 3 – 12 years old) RM55 and 3 days pass – adult RM300 and child (aged 3 – 12 years old) RM150. (These rates are available from 1st June till 6th August).

Door sale tickets will also be available with different rates.
